I was talking to Aja and Byron about getting people together on zoom to read through plays!! LETS DO THIS!
I think that would be fun.
@Shane Jacobsen That's an awesome idea and I would be so happy. Make Lisina happy!!!!!!!
Good morning! In my life? Or with my acting?
Ha! Either one.
@lisin9 Well, I work for a small business owner who has refused to have any employees work from home, because he said he doesn't trust people to work. The main office location (not mine) had a run of employees with Covid. Not all a once, but a couple at a time. He still refuses to shut down the office, even temporarily, and alse refuses to get a Covid test.
@Gela Ackerman That's unacceptable for a work environment Gela. You need to find something else.
Hey!!! I'm on time today!!! Yayyy! The first 30 days of the year has been a reset for me...A refocusing of my attention and intention, both in life and my career!
Same! It feels good, doesn't it?
@Janet Burns Yes! It feels amazing! <3 <3
I booked and filmed an NBC black history month promo! It was my first time filming from home so it was definitely interesting.
Did they send you equipment for that?
Yesss, Kiana!!! Congratulations!!!!
That's a great start to the year Kiana!
Good morning everyone.
Good morning Jeanne!
Good morning, Jeanne!! :)
Good morning Jeanne
Hi everyone! I am new to TCAS. I'm excited to continue to learn and meet all of you!
Welcome Jessica! We're happy to have you here with us :)
Good to have you. Jessica.
Hi Jessica! Welcome!!! We're happy and excited to have you here! :)
Do y'all have favorite contemporary plays and playwrites?
So glad you are asking. We get this question a lot. I am partial to classic American writers from the 40'2, 50's and 60's. However, in Advanced class right now we are working Tracy Letts. You will probably enjoy him. Pearl Cleage, Katori Hall, Lanford Wilson all good places to start.
@lisin9 Thanks. These are all new to me.
I am partial to female playwrights. Here are a few on my short list: Melissa Ross, Sarah Treem, Tanya Barfield, Carly Mensch, Teresa Rebeck, Sarah Ruhl, Lisa Kron, and Molly Smith Metzler.
That sounds so interesting.
also, my faves of all time: Arthur Miller & Harold Pinter. more current ones: Martin McDonagh, Tarrell Alvin McCraney, Stephen Aldy Guirgis, Ken Lonergan
@Shane Jacobsen Pinter huh? Hmmmm...... might have to see some of that by you.
Ooooh, also a nice list. For male playwrights, I would add David Lindasy-Abaire and Edward Albee. Plus, don't forget Tennesee Williams and William Inge.
@lisin9 I would ... enjoy that. (beat) Yes, I think I would. (Silence)
Yes.. count me in for a zoom table read! I was just talking to a friend this morning who is doing some kind of zoom reading for children in a special ed class and thought that was really cool, too.
Sorry, I'm not used to this chat forum and my stuff isn't all going to the right comments. 😆
@Janet Burns it can get confusing. It's not just you.
The first few times, I had no idea what was going on. lol!
@ajamorgan50 Same here.
