And Byron, you can still get all of the TV and film auditions there. Agents in NY really do go to theatres to find new talent. They respect and honor stage experience and many of the agents I've spoke to in NY only get new talent by seeing them in shows.
What are some good skills I can acquire in this "off" time that would really make my resume stand out. I want to make sure i am doing everything I can to offer my agent the best tools possible. I am getting headshots redone, in class, etc
Depends on what type of auditions are available to you. If you are going out for industrials and commercials, then getting stronger at voice over and even teleprompter skills could make you much more marketable.
Hello Lisina! I am considering enrolling in the two year program at the Stella Adler Academy of Acting and Theatre. What are your thoughts on conservatory programs? Any thoughts on this one in particular?
I am a huge fan of Conservatory programs. Especially the Stella Adler program. Once you make it through one of those programs you will feel so strong and confident. Prepare to not do much else during that time. But committing to that training and immersing yourself in it is a value you cannot get anywhere else.
My last acting teacher told me that the roles for me to book are in L.A. and that I would likely be more successful there because of my type. He was referring to shows on ABC and Disney Channel. What are your thoughts on this? Is it really only possible to be cast in these shows if I am in Los Angeles?
I wouldn't say ONLY possible, but those shows are very LA based and so it certainly ups your chance of getting meetings and general auditions with studios directly, which you cannot get here.
Welcome Members! How can I help?
Hi Lisina!
We've recently talked about a possible move for me and you, as well as Lauren, have mentioned New York. Why NY over LA?
Thank you!
You can do great theatre. You can sign and dance. You are mutli-talented, that is better used in NY. More opportunities.

Makes sense, thank you!

Thank You so much- what about for indies, shorts, and eventually features and tv
Those are a must. Build your resume with good independents and shorts. Always be working.

The Stella Adler Program is one of the best around. NY or LA location?
Thank you!! The LA location.
