With the FELICITY monologue in Intermediate class, there doesn't seem to be a very strong action to play. Is she trying to fight off this tornado she's speaking of maybe? And as far as what provoked the monologue, the choice of someone (maybe a therapist) just asking her this question about college seems weak...? Would I maybe need to look more into the circumstances in the episode or how would I approach answering those questions with just the monologue itself...?
So the actual circumstances of the episode are not going to wow you either, but it's simply that a fellow student is doing a documentary of life in college and is interviewing her. They have her on camera in the room and it's supposed to be part of the film he is making. So what you can then realize from those circumstances is that what she is being asked to do will be committed to this film and made public. Also in the circumstances she has been avoiding doing the interview and is finally sitting down to do it. Back when this was written there was no social media and people weren't so readily out there publicly on film, no tik tok and stuff like that. So this could easily have been a more intimidating situation for someone that age in trying to express how she feels about something publicly. Especially if she is dealing w this relationship fail.
@byronwigfal7 I like the action to fight off the tornado. Conversely you can also try to give in to the tornado. To see where that takes her. It may lead her to the realization she needs. But fighting it can as well.
Good afternoon!
