In 2020, the middle of a pandemic, how would someone starting out go about getting an audition for a speaking role? Is having an agent necessary? Without one, do you have a leg to stand on?
Hi Lorian! Welcome to membership and to the chat. Great question. You can be looking for independent projects at this time without an agent. Having an Actors Access Account is important to find some of these projects. You do need to vet them all and look into the groups and if you need help looking at it to make sure it feels legit and right, you are always welcome to send the posting to me and get my opinion. Last week Byron posted some online groups he frequents to look for anything that might be worthwhile. Again, the caution to make sure you vet each independent project is a strong one. The goal is getting an agent. Come to the career Q&A next Sunday and we will go over that process more comprehensively.
@lisin9 Hi Lisina! Thanks so much for the information. I'll be there!
I look so forward to working with you and growing under your guidance! Katie and Rachel are both awesome by the way! (Jamie too! I took classes with her in 2019).
Hi Jeanne and Elyse. I do offer this as a service. There is a small fee attached. She can send me the sides and tape and I can send feedback. Have her email me lisina@thecompanyactingstudio.com
@lisin9 I sent her the information. Her husband has Parkinsons so her schedule has to accommodate this. She's accomplished and on the board of the Charlotte Theater Association. Thanks for your help.
