TO BE CONSIDERED FOR AN AUDITION TO MOVE UP,
YOU MUST SUBMIT THE FORM BELOW.
Students interested in moving up in the program will need to meet certain criteria
and participate in an evaluation audition.
Please review this checklist.
It is a list of the requirements necessary to be considered to move up in the adults program.
If you believe you meet the criteria, we encourage you to consult with your current primary instructor for their opinion before scheduling your audition. To schedule your audition, fill out and submit the form. You will be contacted with your audition date and time.
Cannot have missed more than 2 primary classes over 3 consecutive months.
Must attend the ALL LEVEL AUDITION WORKSOUT classes at least once per week over 3 consecutive months.
Must have read the assigned plays during the time you were enrolled in your current level and completed any in class assignments attached to the play assignment.
Must be able to answer the assigned questions given by the instructor about the current play. These questions will be given to you at your audition.
IN CLASS ASSIGNMENTS/PERFORMANCE
Must have completed any in class assignments during your current and previous contracts that may have been assigned by your instructors.
Must lead a thorough warm-up including body stretch, energizing, vocal warm up and tongue twisters proficiently at least 3 times within the three months prior to your audition. Must be performed with strong leadership, clear instructions; must be able to do warm-up completely yourself, be able to lead others well, have strong voice and physical ability.
Must show a current notebook of notes from class. Instructor and audition auditor will want to take a brief glance at the notes you are taking in class and these notes should be continuous and consistent over the time of your current and previous contracts.
Must do written exam for your level at the audition.
Must perform one monologue no more than 1.5 minutes from a play or film. Cannot be a piece already done in class. Will perform a cold reading at the audition.
LEVEL TWO STUDENTS AUDITIONING FOR MASTER CLASS
Monologue requirements are different: Must perform 2 monologues no more than 1.5 minute each. Must be contrasting. Must be from plays only. Cannot be pieces already done in class.
Must provide current professional resume.
PERFORMANCE CRITERA FOR ALL LEVELS. THESE ARE THE ITEMS YOUR AUDITOR WILL BE GRADING YOU ON.
Completely off book.
Confidence with material both prepared and cold pieces.
Ability to take direction.
Clear objective and actions being pursued.
Emotional connection to the material.
Strong script comprehension, ability to sense nuance and change in beats and throughline.
Strong preparation of character and text.
Strength of body and voice.
